EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT TIME! I am so excited to share that we’re going to be renovating our main floor bathroom over the course of the next six weeks thanks to Jeffery Court! While the final reveal will be posted on 11/10 there will be a weekly blog post and an opportunity to vote for our project each week. I’m so ready to tackle our first full bathroom renovation and hope you’ll enjoy following along!
Let’s start with the mood board and then we’ll get into the fun before and before the before, photos! With each space in our home I try to bring in accents of the decade it was build (1950’s) and a modern cozy feel.
The Mood Board:
Of course, when designing the bathroom I started with the tile selection – mainly the flooring. While I love the look of small traditional hex flooring I wanted to do a fun/modern spin on it and opted for a bigger scale, approx. 2.5 inches wide. These black and white honed marble mosaics are just perfect! Next we are taking out our old, peeling, pink cast iron tub and replacing it with a walk in shower (Cory is very excited, mostly because this is the bathroom he uses)! We are partnering with Basco for our shower enclosure. Their online tool has made it easy to narrow down the styles that will best fit the design. I love the look of marble and it’s such a timeless material. We will be installing the white marble subway with the addition of black marble pencil tile.
The console sink and toilet with traditional lines will stay true to the age of the home but the clean lines keep the space fresh! I hope to DIY the wooden frame mirror/medicine cabinet and potentially some custom art! I am so excited to take this space far away from its previous state, which brings us to our before photos!
The Before:
When we first purchased the home, it was a bright apple green with builder grade finishes – our first step was paint and then a few years later a bandaid $300 renovation. While the current space is visually appealing, the tub/shower combo is in desperate need of renovation and the soffit above HAS to go!
Next week I’ll be finishing demo and prepping the space for all of our fun plans! I am so grateful to be apart of Jeffrey Court‘s Fall 2021 Tile Challenge and thankful for the other sponsors, FrogTape, and Wagner!
Don’t forget to check out the other designers and cast your vote here!
