This weeks focus was all things wall trim and wall texture! I was able to finish up the drywall on the dining room side of the arch and add the wall texture. With Cory’s help, we were able to knock out the arch trim with this flexible trim we ordered from amazon which ended up not being as easy as we planned – SHOCKING.

Textured the Wall:
Our home was built in the 50’s and has a very light texture to the walls. When redoing a large portion of the drywall, I knew I’d have to add the texture back in some way. After doing some research I found this texture spray from Home Depot. It has the ability to change the size of the texture, which allowed me to test a few options! I do recommend at least three coats of paint to fully cover it, as I did run into issue with the finish. Also – a few friends mentioned it dried out after one use. I found that if you turn the can upside down and spray it until nothing comes out, it preserves it for future use.
Outlets:
The walls being SW Urbane Bronze the previous white outlets were no longer working. I purchased black and brown outlets to test with the wall color and ended up with the brown outlet because the paint leans more earthy. At only $2 an outlet, it’s an easy way to elevate the little details in your space.
Wall/Door Trim:
The Trim around the archway took up majority of our time this week. We thought purchasing flexible trim would work for our opening; unfortunately the radius of the curve was too great so we had to make cuts. When I say cuts – approx. 11 on each side – YIKES. Thanks to Cory’s patience, we were able to knock it out. Now lots of wood filler and sanding will be coming up next week! The first photo below was at the beginning of the week and the second, where we are today. It never fails to amaze me the impact of paint and trim.
